Mya Shanice (also known as Myaintosh) is a multidisciplinary artist and Washington, DC native. Mya Shanice got her start doing art by drawing at an early age. From there, she began to perfect her drawing and painting skills. In 2018, Mya’s art teacher entered her in the 36th annual Congressional Art Competition, where Mya displayed her original art. In June 2019, after her high school graduation, Mya decided to start her art career. So she enrolled at the University of the District of Columbia Community College, where she earned her Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design with Honors. Along her art career, she has gained an internship at the National Gallery of Art and won the DC State Fair for Best Painting. Mya is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts and will graduate in Spring 2027.
Mya Shanice’s body of work is a combination of her creative imagination, life experiences, cultural upbringing with the blended with her artistic and craftsmanship skills. She developed her skills in illustration, painting, and collage work. She explores with different mediums in oil, gouache, and watercolor painting. She also work with traditional, digital illustrations as well as experimenting with collage art.
When she’s not painting or creating art in her home studio, Mya focuses on her nonfictional stories, caring for her 15 indoor plants and reading her favorite books.
